CRYTEK have been on a bit of a winning streak lately with the CRYENGINE 3. Several developers and animators have announced that they will be liscensing the engine to create their products throughout 2012. The one we have taken notice of however is MechWarrior Online.
The upcoming free to play game MechWarrior Online has announced that they will be powered by CryENGINE 3, claiming that they will be bringing in a new era of “true AAA quality” for free-to-play gaming. Knowing what the engine is capable of and knowing what the franchise is capable of, it very well could be…unless they stuff it up of course.
Due for release in 2012 along with several other CryENGINE licensed free-to-play titles, Director of Global Business Development CryENGINE Carl Jones claims that
“2012 will see a new segment in the games industry – as free-to-play games will step up to offer true AAA quality to gamers.”
