Crytek has today announced that their upcoming MMOFPS Warface has broken a a little record in Russian gaming history. Within the first four weeks the title’s CCU is already on par with Russia’s most successful games, including shooters and MMORPGs. 28,000 players have simultaneously been fighting in the AAA-shooter, which is not a bad effort at all.
According to Mail.Ru it is an unprecedented result which has taken competing titles anywhere from a few years to a few months to reach a similar level of performance. As of the of 10th May 2012, registered users in Warface has exceeded 1 million.
“We are extremely satisfied with the Warface results and we are happy that the hard work done by our team over the title has been so fruitful, we intend to keep up the good work and make Warface not merely a successful game, but also a huge brand and a cybersport discipline, like we did with Cross Fire.”
says Vladimir Nikolsky, Vice President of Mail.Ru Group Game Division.
Avni Yerli, Managing Director of Crytek GmbH, added
“We chose Russia to be the debut market for our title, since we have always had a great reception with Russian gamers and had great confidence in Mail.Ru Group’s ability to achieve success. We are extremely happy with the launch, the great work from Mail.Ru Group and the massive effort from our development team and can’t wait to let people around the world play Warface.”
Now we just need to wait for the launch in other territories so we can get our grubby hands ont he game. Muslim Gamer Monthly Meetup game choice I hear you say?
