Ever wanted to mute the volume of a single tab in your browser? Ever been browsing with 473 different tabs open and one starts playing that advertisement from that company that you will never buy anything from? Well finally Chrome has an addon that fixes the problem, unfortunately not for Firefox though..
Mute Tab is a great new addon which,
“helps you manage the sound coming from tabs in Google Chrome. It helps you to find which tab(s) are making sounds and provides browser-wide management of tab muting (calling JavaScript functions where available, otherwise hiding it from the page), including automatically muting all background tabs.”
Unfortunately it is not available for Firefox as yet, which is my browser of choice, but Chrome can rejoice. So when you have the headphones on and the annoying tab starts blasting away it adds a musical note icon to the offending tab so you can find it and get rid of it. It may not work on all pages yet due to the design but I think it’s definitely worth trying out. If they release a Firefox version Ill let you know.
