More Zombie News: The Walking Dead Game Announced

Activision has today announced a first-person game based on The Walking Dead TV show. The developer will be Terminal Reality and will revolved around Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.”

There has rarely been a successful TV\Movie to Game port, the list of failures are a lot longer than the list of success stories, I guess Activision is banking on the number of people that follow the TV show to bump up their sales of the game?

Players in The Walkign Dead game will control Daryl as they try and avoid detection from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell. You will be able to either go all guns blazing to fight them or go stealth and avoid them all together.

According to Activision,

“No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”

According to the article from IGN, it looks like it will be based on action and survival as supplies will be scarce and players will need to carefully manage food, ammunition and supplies throughout the game. The Walking Dead game is set to launch in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
