Frozenbyte have finally released Trine 2 to the world! Available now on for PC/Mac (Steam) the team have released a newt trailer to go with the launch. We will have a review up after we spend the weekedn playing the game too.
While the game is now available for PC and Mac the console dates are a little behind. Probably due to the time PS and MS take to validate the games and get them up on the network.
- December 7 – PC & Mac (Steam)
- December 20 – North American PSN
- December 21 – Xbox Live Arcade (worldwide) European PSN TBD (hopefully around the same time though!)
The younger sibling in the family, Trine 1, sold 1.1 million units to date, so lets hope the indie team behind Trine 2 can do even better this time round. Actually, I am certain they will do better. Whys that?
Just check out this trailer and let the beauty of the game do the selling.
One thing we would recommend you do is head over to the Frozenbyte “Humble Store” on its website where you can buy the game directly from the developer site. You still get a Steam key from there, but at least 100% of the funds go to Frozenbyte! The Non-DRM and Linux versions will be added next year.
Lauri Hyvärinen, the CEO of Frozenbyte has said,
“We have done our best to ensure that everything goes well and the initial reception has been positive, so we have high hopes for Trine 2. It’s the product of two years of hard work and a lot of heart and soul, and we hope this shows. To all the gamers out there – I hope you enjoy the game!”
Trine 2 is available now on Steam and other channels, including GamersGate and Direct2Drive. The regular edition is priced at $14.99/12.99 euros/11.99 pounds. The Collector’s Edition is available for $24.99/19.99 euros/17.99 pounds. The Collector’s Edition includes a digital artbook and the original soundtrack by the acclaimed composer Ari Pulkkinen. All versions use Steamworks for easy multiplayer, Achievements and Steam Cloud. A DRM free and Linux versions of Trine 2 are coming in 2012.
This release will also have a retail, physical copy of the Trine 2 Collector’s Edition for those of you in Europe. The retail Collector’s Edition includes the beautiful physical artbook and the digital version of the soundtrack.
