Read any post, article or thread about Just Cause 2 and the same thing pops up over and over again. Mayhem. The ability to go nuts in the game was what made Just Cause 2 as popular as it has become. Of course being on sale for $5 ever month has helped too. In a recent article, the developer Axel Lindberg has gobne abck over the game and development cycle to give an inside view of what went into the game.
According to the article in Gamasutra the team set out with a few goals in mind early on int he games development,
- The game should look, sound, and feel like an AAA-budget game, only in a small package.
- It should give us a foundation for online tech within the Avalanche Engine (multiplayer).
- It should reach an 85 percent metacritic score
As the article goes on, an interesting bit of information pops up. Just Cause Multiplayer. The technical limitations in the engine didnt allow for Multiplayer to be included in Just Cause 2, but the hints are that Just Cause 3 will indeed have a Multiplayer component.
“Multiplayer exists in the Avalanche Engine now, and I can’t wait to share where that door is leading us in future projects. Unfortunately, if I shared that information with you today, I wouldn’t be able to share anything in the future.”
