Don’t you love exclusives, especially when you’re actually of the ones that can take advantage of it. Minecraft is expanding its already free flowing wings to the mobile world on October 29 for Android, if you want it now though you will have to be one of the ones that own a Sony Xperia Play.

I guess there’s not much doubt in Minecraft being one of, if not THE most successful Indie game to date. The original Minecraft was released in May 09 and has gone from strength to strength since then as Mojang has taken on more employees and released several updates. The game is still in Beta and has made Mojang a nice tidy sum of money already. To add to that kitty, you can purchase the mobile block crafting sandbox game fr4om the Android market for $6.55 USD.

According to information on the Android Market listing, Minecraft Pocket Edition will include 36 different blocks, randomized worlds, multi-player, the ability to save the maps on your device and the ability to invite your friends into your map via your wireless connection.

It mentions that the game was optimized for Xperia PLAY but whether that’s Sony slipping in a bit of “Soup” money towards Mojang we will have to wait to see how it performs. Minimum requirements are listed as Android 2.3 and up but may change to older Android versions to reflect it coming out of exclusivity.

Mojang has also mentioned that there will eventually be an iOS release but hasn’t released any dates. Below is a video of the gameplay which to be honest looks a little awkward, but I guess Ill make up my mind once I get a hold of it as I’m not one of the special Xperia people…
