That little indie game that seems to be doing its little thing has just hit 9.2 million little sales. Mojang founder Markus “Notch” Persson has tweeted some details about the sales of the game showing how it is still just as popular as ever.
In a conversation between Notch and Kaplan over Twitter, over a few back and forth tweets they announced that,
“Minecraft has now sold six million copies. That’s the original PC version only, and doesn’t count Android, iOS or XBLA sales,”
“Counting all formats, we should be at around nine million copies sold, I’d guess?”
“Yeah a little bit more. Maybe 9.2,”
When Minecraft was released on Xbox 360, breaking sales records as the most sales in 24 hours. With that not being enough, it also sold 1 million units in under a week and was profitable pretty much straight away.
