No offense taken thulfiqaar, apologies if my reaction appeared to be too "whoa dude."

Kreax I used to do that too in the SNES era -- plug in headphones and leave them on my desk, you can just hear the "shing!" of swords and stuff. Good times.

Seriously, even consoles these days have the ability to turn the music volume off. It's honestly alhamdulillah a great feature for us.

Btw Kreax what pings in LoL? :S

There's a retreat ping and a target ping to help team communication and coordination. It's mostly used to make known what the team should attack/defend together, or to inform others that a gank is coming their way.

Listening to and making use of pings almost always saves lives. The only time this isn't true is if you are playing with trolls, or people that in general have no idea what they are doing, but still try to take command.

Insha'Allah, this weekend, I will show you. :grin

Weekend? You must be joking. My weekend is a single block of "gogogogogogog!!!!" that only ends when I collapse, exhausted, into my office chair on monday morning.

Don't ask. Just. back. away. slowly.

Sorry, akhi. You've got to know by now that you can't just say something like that without explaining. I could guess, but I'm afraid of what my feeble-yet-imaginative mind may come up with.

lol. Maybe I should be more afraid of what your over-active imagination will conjure up :)

Simply put: on weekends, I rarely get time on the computer. If I do, it will be probably 30 minutes late at night (like 11pm+).

See, when you're brown, there are a lot of family expectations around you. Double (actually, N^2) if you're married. Again, exponentially more if you have kids.

In a "best case" weekend, I have to visit:
    - My mom
    - My dad and step-mom

In a "worst case" weekend (where people demand I show up and saying "no" would constitute breaking ties most likely, or at least bad feelings) I have to visit:
    - My mom
    - My dad and step-mom
    - My inlaws (alhamdulillah only one house)
    - My grandmother

Other events that may randomly occur:
    - Big get-together from all my (5) aunts on my mom's side. Attendance: mandatory.
    - Someone's aqeeqah
    - Someone's walimah (more rare)

On top of all this, weekend is probably the only time I can block off to spend time with my wife and kids (beyond eating a meal at the same time).

Sooooo .... computer time? Nah, probably wouldn't happen. But it is a minute possibility.

And now that I have explained everything to you ...

Wow, that sounds pretty intense. Alhamdulillah my weekends aren't like that.

Parents are always of #1 importance. Visiting is a part of giving them their right. Wife and kids too. So, I can understand that much.

I don't mind visiting others or maintaining relations, but dang, they should give you some time to miss them so that you appreciate your relationship rather than feel it a burden.

Don't worry about it. LoL is just a game.

Yeah, it's all good. I think the main problem is, people who are not flexible. Alhamdulillah that's changing. It's not necessarily a burden; but you can imagine that if most of my weekends are like this, I usually end up quite burned out as the months and years go by.

We'll see how it goes. What's 10pm EST in your local time? That's the time after which I may appear (in a shroud of mist, no less) on Saturday or Sunday. Or tonight.

Music is such a powerful medium, it even has it's own religion in some cases (Biebiers [sp?] anyone?). In Islam, we take the stance that prevention is better than a cure (one does not necessarily need to think too hard to realise this applies in most parts of life).

There's also something I heard in a lecture once where the sheikh said that the heart has space for Quran and music but both cannot co-exist together, one overrides the other and in society together, music gets more exposure so of course the heart gets hardened and dulls the sense to the beautiful Qu'ran. Anyone have the origins of this/feels this way? I find it applies to me very much...

ZPE it is a famous statement of Abdullah ibn Mas'ood, radiallahu anhu, the great scholarly companion of rasulullah.

Wish the mobile site had a thank button =[

I definitely can vouch for the trith of that statement. When I used to listen to music, whether i wanted it or not, the tune and lyrics would appear in my mind, making it impossible to focus on salah, quran, hw, and other important things.
