    Sony shuts down Zipper interactive!!!!!

    Postby AhmadSA » 31 Mar 2012, 17:15

Sony today confirmed it has closed Seattle-based game studio Zipper Interactive, the creators of the SOCOM series.

Responding to rumors last week, Sony representatives sent Game Informer the following statement:

Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm the closure of Zipper Interactive, a Seattle-based internal game development studio that has been part of the global development operation of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS).

The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS. Zipper has completed all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita. Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13.

Zipper had a proximately 80 employees.

It's never good news for any studio to close down, but that company... never heard of it bro. Sorry if it offended you, but I just have no clue who they are except for maybe socom it rings a bell. I think I may have played or seen it on the PS1.

I personally found your Gif a lot more entertaining than then that announcement. Hey it's my opinion and we are all allowed to have one right?
    Peace :D

    RIP MAG. :'(

This is part of Sony's new reinvestment plan though, Bigbig closed, Guerilla downsized, That Game Company's ended contract, etc. While it is all pretty sad, I'm quite interested in the future.

I don't really care about bigbig or thatgamecompany but I do love Zipper and Guerilla :(

That's what I'm hoping for too. I too used to think TGC was worthless, but then they made Journey, then I realize how truly artistic that studio is. :[

Yeah, I agree, all these companies and studios closing is really sad man, but that just means Sony will invest in something new, which I'm also interested to see.
