thulfiqaar. My point is that even if the madhaahib disagree, there are ahadith that talk directly about this issue. All four scholars who started their madhabs said "if you find what we are telling you goes against the sunnah of rasulullah, LEAVE IT, and follow the sunnah instead."
Anyway, Allah knows best about this. As I mentioned, qiyaas (analogy) is used after ijmaa (consensus of the scholars), so that implies automatically that there was no ijmaa on this topic; scholars differed.
My thesis is, after reading similar fatawa (fatwas) and the ahadith and opinions, I went in expecting a very strict response. I was told -- not a conservative opinion, or a liberal opinion -- but that
this was a non-issue with digital. As if to say "why are you even asking, it's not even something you need to think about!"
I was quite blown away.
