dabbaba i think its good that questions like this come up on the forums. As others have mentioned, a question like this is bound to come up and be asked to a muslim, so why not have an answer here? If you dont believe the answer that visualante gave is the right one, then better to add your input then to pull out of the thread completely.

Ofcourse its your choice brother, but I think the the thread can be very beneficial for both brothers\sisters ont he thread as well as randoms that can come here to read it. If we have ihtilaf and no answer, that benefits no one, if we have ihtilaf and then an answer then that benefits everyone that reads this thread

My problem is not with the question, it's with the answer. We should not answer these questions ourselves, as a wrong answer could deviate one from the true belief of tawheed and aqeeda. Leave the answer to our scholars aki. Why do you need to be so philosophical?

To clarify, when I answered the question, I was paraphrasing what I studied from my Aqeeda teachers.

No problems bro. I guess what i am trying to say is we all have different schools of thought and teachers, while you may take islamqa as a trusted source someone else may not. We can be a lot more beneficial to users of the site by giving sources and references as long as they are not completely off track and letting the brothers sisters read the source, but then most importantly, going to the imam of their choice that they trust and asking the question directly to get an answer directly.

I have said it before and I will say it again. You dont learn Islam off the net, sheikh google is not the best source. We can discuss subjects here but I would not advise anyone to take sources linked off of the net as trustworthy, regardless of who they are. But each to their own.

InshAllah it makes sense, I want their to be discussion, but Muslim Gamer is not an islamic source, its a gaming site, your Imam is an Islamic source. We have light discussion because as you said, qualified, trained people should answer important islamic questions.

Just to be clear, I don't consider aqeedah (topics of belief) to be light. Many sects emerged because they disagreed or differed in this. Take it to the local shaykh.

There was a beautiful story I read and heard once about the works of Imam Bukhari (ra). The moral of the story was he disliked for hypothetical discussions.

Maybe someone knows the full story to give some context, but I'm sorry OP but these questions don't benefit anyone. Allah (swt) is the creator of the heavens and the Earth and all that lies between it. We have a purpose in life as laid out in the Qur'an and Sunnah.

If someone asked me that question I wouldn't answer it. If someone saw that as a victory that they got one over on me then more the fool them.

asside from that.. I would give a flat NO.
Allah can do anything.. thus.. there will never possibly be a time that he cannot lift the rock. That second condition can never be fulfilled, thus it is impossible. However, Allahu-'alam.. Im not gonna say I understand the unseen. Allah can do anything.. but I don't think he will do anything that can possibly limit him in any way.
