Nintendo E3 2012

Nintendo had a pre E3 stream. Here is what they showed off.


-Skype/Facetime/Videochat through Wii U 'Gamepad' (official name)

-Gamepad can be used as tv remote

-Can browse internet through gamepad

-Text chat during games sort of like instant messenger/twitter, also mobile app.

-New controller for actual 'games'

They've been releasing trash for the last like...5 years. They've sunk themselves. They might as well just go into making home theater systems since all they seem to care about is making fancy remote controls and sub par entertainment computer systems build for twitter and facebook. They're just going to release Mario Galaxy 15 and call it a success. I mean how can they NOT release a proper sequel to Star Fox? How stupid are they? Do they not know how popular it was or how many good memories were made by that game. That and Golden Eye brought multiplayer to the world...

the interesting thing is when they released the wii, most people, including myself said it would flop. They ended up selling a tonne of consoles for years and years. Its really only been recently that the Xbox 360 has taken the lead. Then the others also followed nintendo with the motion control stuff.

So in a way they innovated, then the others just did a better job as they had more time to fine tune it.

Twilight Princess was the last good Zelda game. Skyward Sword was just a Zelda-themed metroid knock-off. Spirit tracks? uggh. Minish Cap?? come on...

It's pretty clear that Nintendo is focused on the Tweens and family demographic. No love at all for the older generation that grew up with The Legend of Zelda.

You can only remake a game so many times... they're just milking the cash cow. The last Zelda game that actually did something genuinely innovative was Wind Waker.

Anyway, I'm pretty much done with Nintendo.

i think you guys are unders estimating nintendo. Yes you may no longer be their target market but let me put it this way. In 10-20 years time when you have kids, which console will you buy for your young kids? The one that focuses on GTAXV and CoDXXXII or Nintendo with the latest mario kart?
