Maybe in some games, but in certain games it adds to the action. the pace of the music changes and it accelerates. And in the game Bastion for example the music only adds to the game it is so beautifully incorporated that I can't ever imagine playing the game without it.

MGS4 had a good soundtrack, Uncharted 2-3 has an awesome soundtrack, Halo has a great soundtrack, Shogun 2 has a good soundtrack, and many more. I dont know if I have a favorite since I go through mood swings with music but ya. lol.
