    The New Minecraft Server

    Postby Rizwan1 » 20 May 2012, 07:22

Listen up Minecrafters: This is one of your Minecraft Server Admin's Speaking. We are starting up the new server soon but we need to lay down some rules, The previous servers have been a bit of a shambles. This thread is here to lay down some ground rules for the new server but also to ask the wider community about they would like to see on the server.

    - All buildings/creations need to be near the spawn: If your going to use the server you should at least try to be part of the server. If you're going to build something so far from the server that no one is going to see it then it probably shouldn't on the server (save it for Single Player).

    - If your going to build something and it is in general spawn area make sure that you leave space for your neighbours, no one wants to log on planning to expand their fortress to find out that someone has built a farm on their land, leave around 10 blocks of space between your buildings (obviously if your neighbour has a monster of a building then leave more space).

    - Mining: When mining make sure that you don't hog all the resources (this rule mainly applies in the spawn area/main area), there are other players on the server, some of these players might not be as hardcore as you (if they come online and can't find some diamonds they'll probably get bored and won't return, so if you want to collect 8 stacks of Diamond collect it from a bit further out in the map.

These rules are not set in stone, If you think any of the rules are unreasonable then feel free to comment and i'm sure that we can come to some sort of arrangement.

These rules are also not the only rules, There are more rules (but they are already largely abided by), If would like to suggest any more rules then feel free to comment, No rule is too stupid or silly (but try to be serious), All rules submitted will be considered.

    My idea..

Claimable regions are only a max of 500 blocks. Any bigger, and you contact an admin to protect your area for you.

If you are planning something huge, ask an admin to make the region an appropriate size.

Be prepared for unprotected things best the spawn to be ransacked, taken over, etc.

None of this of is set in stone, just my idea

I just really want the building zones to be clearly marked and admined. It would be great if it was setup in a way where once you enter the server you knwo where the housing area is and where the rest of the stuff is too. So clearly defined housing from me.

You can set different spawn points for different groups. Or mark the direction to housing and other things.

Sorry, but you've just massacred the creativity of the game. The freedom to choose the location of your house is vital. You use it all the time. You don't want some badly made house right beside yours to see everyday. Moreover, you're placing a restriction on the surrounding environment the player might want. To be uber-geek, you have stripped the player of proximity to resources, close to his abode.

Also, gengis, as Rizwan1 is admin, i suggest you sticky his post regarding the minecraft thread rather than the one i made. It makes more sense for him to be able to edit his OP and give info regarding the server that way. I am no longer capable of updating threads as my exams are coming..

Welcome back Mustardy. I think you are misunderstanding the thread brother. This isnt about me making any rules or regulations up, its about the people who use the server to come up with some base rules so we can finally have a server we can open to the public and have some structure around so anyone who joins knows whats going on. No more random decisions made on the fly. If you would like to use the server and feel as though buildings should be scattered and there should be no particular "town" area then this is the place to voice it :)

The onyl reason I said it is because Gerzi and Asad lost their housing structures in this final build, we shouldnt have to rebuild the server anymore but if we have ground rules as to where people build, then any future changes make things easier.

But its up to you guys to decide what the rules are, i just look good :)

keep looking good gengis :) it's inspiring actually, how you manage this community
either way, i think you took my comment too harshly, i was criticizing your opinion regarding the minecraft server.
Hehe, but i don't mean "buildings should be scattered". Balance bro, balance.
but yea, i do have alot of catching up to do. i'm to have to read all these new minecrafted related threads lol. there's like 4 of them now.

Also mustardy, you can demand anything you like for the loss of all your hard work and time. We will see if we can accommodate for you. Also, I am neatly always on teamspeak, if you ever get a chance to get on, we can talk about the server.

    JazakAllah brother AbrarSyed
I will try to get on Teamspeak. But please don't mind me, i have exams coming up. This is a long weekend, and probably the only free time i will get.
the server, with regards to the plugins, is great. If i were to add more, it would be McMMO first, and or maybe falsebook (kinda laggy i've experienced) for gates, bridges, and elevators.

Oh, and NoCheat is a great great great plugin. Just tweak it a bit to lessen the lag on the server.

    thanks again, Mustardy

+1 for McMMO: Levelling up adds a whole new dimension to the game not to mention getting glowstone dust from sand/dirt without having to go to the nether!
