France Threatening Blizzard with Legal Action

    Postby Fadi » 15 Jun 2012, 02:03

In France, the very serious “UFC Que Choisir” organization (focused on protecting consumers of all kinds of products) has received over 1500 complaints in 4 days from gamers about connect-ability issues and has asked Blizzard to have a permanent solution within 15 days and to communicate completely and transparently about problems encountered in due time.

They are also requesting that affected gamers be given damages for troubles they may have had, and, in a much broader but more official manner, are asking the DGCCRF to have a close look at online-only DRMed games and how they work, including economically. They basically feel that it’s wrong to assume that an entire nation (well, at least France) has equal internet quality and reception across its entire territory and hence, online-only seems are harmful for some (many?) consumers (which is who they’re trying to protect).

I'm okay with this. I hate the idea of online only connections for games with single player elements.

While I do love Blizzard I feel like they arent doing as well a job with Diablo 3. You could see how much love went into SC2 through the beta and the updates later on - despite not coming through on a few promises. PvP would have silenced everyone to a degree. It would have felt like a complete game from the beginning. Im waiting for PvP to be released to be honest. Its good that they are making up some time by releasing the Real Money Auction House but PvP should be out quick too. They desperately need it.

We don't have real money auction house yet in Europe!..... I hope Blizzard loses a lot of money because of this. Seriously such a bad service, shocking! And I was really expecting them to pull it off.
    Peace :D

I dont even care for the RMAH - maybe to make a bit of money at some point in time but I really just want PvP so I can have some more fun with the game. I stopped at the end of Act 2 just to give myself a break and give Blizz some time to get their act together.

Ahhh, i remember when before the game launched how so many across the lands of the interwebs were screaming and yelling at the top of their lungs at how this was Blizzard and they could do no wrong.

Tales of MG - Chapter 14 - Ye Spineless Gamers should have listened as thy told you so!

Ye old grumpy gamers, go forth and give thou gold coins to Blizzard for ye shall be rewarded with spectacular gameplay. Go forth and support always online DRM or ye shall be called a witch and burned at the stake.

For the old grumpy gamers fought back with their intelligence and DRM repelling shields, for it was millions vs thousands, yet the thousands haveth spines made of steel. We shall support ye anti drm developers and have anti marketing crapeth filters which shall show us developers worth supporting they yelled.

Thy voices were drowned out by the masseth, as the masseth have no spine and only think of thy self, "If ye game not affecteth me, why should I care, for lulz upon thee with no internet connection, for thee liveth in the middle ages? I lulz upn thee for always online not affecteth me, so I shall not care and give forth my cold coins" they screamed.

Soon, soon the spineless gamers were to pay a price, a hefty price, for the land of Blizzard now groweth stronger with millions of extra sales.

gengis DLC and Indie Developers? i was right so therefore I told you twice :)

As for Diablo 3, I would have still bought it even knowing the problems because the gameplay is that good. As for supporting always online drm? No no it's not supporting I have 2 choices, either buy the game that I love (with drm) OR not buy the game and lose out on the gameplay experience and real money auction house?

I choose to buy the game because it's about how much you value the game, for me I value the game more than that I care about the always online drm. Does that mean I don't care about always online drm? No it doesn't, it's a matter of opinion. No spine? that is your opinion Gengis. Here is the best thing: You are entitled to your own opinion that doesn't make you wrong or make me wrong either.

I value the game more than I value the DRM free option. Stop trying to force your opinion on other gengis. I will continue buy the game if I feel it's worth the trouble.

    Summary:

Is diablo 3 worth it, despite the trouble? yes it is FOR ME.

Battlefield 3 - (released in October 2011) hours spent: 90 hours and 31 minutes

    Diablo 3 - (released in May 15th 2012) hours spent: 90 hours +

What do you think? Did I enjoy it?
    Peace :D

Yes you both have your opinions, and neither of you are going to change the others,
DRM/DLC/DIABLO3/REGISTRATIONS/P2W?!! Sing a new song would ya?! :haha
There are people with experience and people with opinions. Listen to one, smile at the other.

lol Im not even going to trying and argue here. My problem isnt that theres DRM or anything. My problem is that I want multiplayer so I can have something else to do rather than playing singleplayer which is a mode I like to pace and take my time on.
