    Fiqh reading

    Postby AbrarSyed » 24 Jul 2012, 20:14

    Assalamu-alaikum Eevryone.

inshallah, I plan on reading a really fat fiqh Book this ramadan, and making myself a QuickFiqhReferenceGuide.
I plan on posting the bullets each time I read a section or so here.

if anyone wants to follow along with me, im reading Fiqh-us-Sunnah by Al Sayyid Sabiq
im saying right now, for my quick refrence guide, I don't plan on adding all the prooofs etc, only the actions and if they are sahih or questionable.

    Section 1: Tahara (purity)

Mutlaq water (water that is considerred pure and can be used for wudu and stuff)
    - Water from the sky (rain, snow, hail)
    - Sea/ocean water
    - ZamZam
    - Alterred water (if it falls under the term water, then it is pure)
    - used water (water other people used for wudhu and such)
    - Water with pure element mixed in (where pure is not the scientific pure, but religious pure. pure things include food coloring, flowers etc. This is in accordance with the above rule that itt must be still called water, NO LEMONADE MIX)
    - Water that contains impure elements, but has not lost the default properties of water (taste, color, smell). (impure elements include urin, blood, dung, etc). ** Abrars note: this also seems to mean that if the body of water is large enough that no ammount of contamination can change its color and smell and stuff, think a large lake, then almost nothing can make it impure, even if someone dies in the water and stays floating there, as long as the above rules are applied.

    LeftOver water
    - drunk water (whatever is left in a glass or bowl after someone or something has drunk from it. Animals included.)
    - *exception water drunk by a dog or pig is considerred completely impure. ** Abrars note: dogs and pigs are completely impure imo, not to mention the "wash 7 times" rule regarding anything a dog licks, eats, or drinks out of. Not to mention a chewtoy. (im beginning to wonder... what if the dog licks your face???)

Keep in mind this was a list for water than can be used to make Wudu, and ghusl (and imo general hygene). I doubt anyone would want to do wudu with water that a dog or pig drank out of imo.

about the sepcific answer to your question, it did not say anything about what type of dog it could be or any function of the dog. here is what it DID say, word for word, minus any spelling mistakes I might make:
Water left in a pot after a pig or dog has drunk from it. Such water is considerred impure and must be avoided. Al bukhari and Muslim have recorded, on the authority of Abu Huraira, that the messenger of Allah said, "If a dog drinks fron one of your containers, wash it seven times." Ahmad and Muslim also have this addition, "Cleanse one of your containers if a dog licks it by washing it seven times, the first bieng with dirt." As for the leftover water of a pig, it is clearly considerred filth and impure.

then it goes on to talk about Najasah and thats the next topic im gonna post sometime today inshallah.

BTW: I hope ive made it clear that when writing this fiqh stuff, none of it is expressly my opinion unless its in one of those "Abrar notes" and the rest of it is all from the book. Although there were times when I consolidated multiple sections into 1 and stated only the exceptions because I felt it was easier to say what WAS NOT allowed rather than list everything that WAS allowed. One example of that is with the used water section. Instead of listing all of it (the allowed sections were: after huamns have drunk, after halal eatable animals have drunk, after wild beasts and animals of prey have drunk, and after a cat has drunk). As you can see, rather large list, so I consolidated it. If anyone has a problem with this, please let me know, I am prepared to right it all out if necessary to provide as much clarity as possible when discussing deeny topics.

oh yeah no sorry my question wasn't clear. I was referring to dogs being Najish in general but there are exceptions to when they are not najish. Don't quote me on it though, it's just something someone told me a while back.

anyway, thanks for the info bro I didn't know about all that.

Maybe you can do the main post on the post site; and post a forum post for "Questions on X" (eg. "Questions on Tahara" for this week).

That seems to be more effective than engaging people in comments.

Najasah (Impurities, things that are considered as referred to by other sections)
    - Dead animals(including...)
    - - Animals that die or are killed by any way other than the proper Islamic Slaughtering method.
    - - A part that was cut off of a live animal is also considered dead.
    - - *exceptions to the above rule (instances where dead animals are considered pure)
    - - - - Dead animals of the sea
    - - - - Dead locusts
    - - - - Dead animals with no running blood (ants, bees, most tiny bugs)
    - - - - Bones, Horns, Claws, Feathers, Fur, and Skin of dead animals.
    - Blood (Blood that flows from an animals body upon death pr injury, or from menstruation)
    - -*exceptions to the above rule (instances where blood is considered pure)
    - - - - Blood still flowing in your veins.
    - - - - Blood that is left in food. (from impropert cleaning or such)
    - - - - Blood coming from you, when you are bleeding due to a wound, but only if it is in small amounts. (a small ammount is a few drops)
    - - - - Blood coming from a popped pimple, or a flee.
    - Pigs meat (see Surah An'am, ayah 145)
    - - *exception it is permissible to knit with the hair of a pig according to most of the scholars.
    - Vomit, urine, and excrement of a person
    - - *exception the vomit and urine of an unweaned baby boy. (The vomit and urine of a baby boy that has not yet begun to eat solid foods only requires only the sprinkling of water over them rather than the full procedure of washing)

im too lazy to do the proper formatting from the news site... anyways.. once the site is up, post Gengis Approval, I will link it here. Didn't really include much of my own notes this time.. Inshallah, the next part will be a continuation of the Najasah

EDIT: there, I did the formatting...

no shyness in the deen, no shyness in the deen, no shyness in the deen, no shyness in the deen, no shyness in the deen.......

    ok, im ready. :D

    NAJASAH CONTINUEd
    - Al-Wadi (thick white stuff discharged after urinating, men only. NOT SPERM) >> requires only wudu to purify yourself of it.
    - Al-Madhi (Sticky stuff that comes out when thinking of preverted things. I refuse to get into more detail, MEN AND WOMEN, NOT SPERM) >> also requires ONLY wudu to get purified of it.
    - Al-Mani/Sperm (this is inherently pure because it is an "ingredient of life", you can technically still pray if you have this on your clothes unlike the two previous fluids.) >> if YOU excrete this, you need to do ghusl to get purified.

    - waste of edible animals The urine and stool of these animals is PURE. this is the opinion of ALL the early sahabah and anything else (according to this book) is newer and should not be followed.
    - Al-Jallalah (Animals that eat the waste or flesh of other animals). Such animals are impure unless it is ensured that said animal is fed only pure foods, then the animal becomes pure. **Abrars note: I think pigs are impure regardless...

    - Alcohol Alcohol is pure. ** Abrars Note: I think that I would personally consider bear or whatever impure because of its nature as an intoxicating drink, but rubbing and medical grade alcohol pure because of its antiseptic properties. This is not really firmly grounded in anything, it is just my own personal belief.

    - Dogs
    - - - Dogs are impure
    - - - Things they lick are impure
    - - - If a dog licks some dry food, what the dog touched with its tongue must be thrown away, the rest is still pure.
    - - - Dogs fur IS PURE!

you guys need to bug me to keep writing these.. I keep foretting and never get arround to it.

    CLEANING STUFF

    clothes
Impure stuff (see above for the total list) MUST be washed off, even if invisible. Stains remaining after washing can be ignored. If inpurity is invisible, washing oly 1 time is necessary, otherwise it is necessary to wash until it is gone or has stained. WOMENS DRESSES: anything that trails along the ground is pure. even if the dress trails along an impure substance and gets dirty, the dirt that it trails over afterwards purifies it.

    the ground
Solid impurities. take them out of said area.
Liquid impurities, once it dries, it is pure.
else: pour water over it, and that will also purify it.

    food and stuff
if impure substances, or animals, or something touches food, and it is solid or semi-solid (like butter), then you must remove whatever the impurity touched, and the rest remains pure.

    The skin of dead animals
    tanning it = purifying it

    mirrors and other shiny things
whipe them, and remove anything that is impure.

    shoes
Impurities on shoes may simply be rubbed off into the ground. Because shoes are repeatedly exposed to impurities, they only need to rubbed on the ground and the dust and dirt therof will purify the shoes. you may then pray in said shoes. ** Abrars note: Awesome, next time we have Eid sallah outside, I can pray in my shoes :D

    Other usefull points
    - Ropes used to hand impure clothes may be used later for pure clothes as well.
    - If a liquid falls on a person, and it is unknown whether it was pure or impure, then it should be assumed pure regardless of the reality. If someone asks if it IS pure, then the one who is asked does not have to answer even if he/she knows it was impure. As long as the first person doesn't KNOW it is impure, it should be treated as pure, and washing is not necessary.
    - If someone finds something moist on his body or clothes at night, and he does not know what it is, he need not smell it and discover what it might be. If you DO discover what it is, then it must be treated as whatever it is, otherwise purity is assumed.
    - mud from the street is pure and need not be washed.
    - If you finish prayer, and find some impurity that you forgot existed, didn't exist before, didn't notice before, or could not get rid of, then your prayer is valid and does not need to be repeated.
    - if you don't know what part of your clothes contains impurity, but you know its there somwhere, you gotta wash the whole garment.
    - if you mix impure and pure cloths, you should try to find out which is pure and use it to pray and such. Does not matter what the proportion to pure and impure clothes is.** ABrar Note: (this is similair to the Qiblah cases, where exact knowledge is not requirred and guessing is somwhat allowed.)

no shyness in the deen *whipes forhead*

Going to the bathroom ** Abrars note: a lot of this is rather inapplicable. but you should know it anyways for any time you go camping or get caught out somewhere where there are no proper bathrooms.
    - don't carry something that has the name of Allah upon it when going to the mathroom, unless it is necesary. (there is a weak hadith stating that thr prophet removes a ring that was engraved with "Muhammad Rasool-Ullah" on it when going to the bathroom.) ** Abrars Note : its not really harram if you do... just something to look out for.
    - hide from others. ** Abrars Note" Alhamdulillah, thats easy for us nowadays. just remember this when going camping or such.
    - dua when enterring bathroom: In the name of Allah, I seek refuge in you from the male and femal noxious biengs/devils. >> arabic: http://www.islamic-knowledge.com/Hisn_a ... throom.htm
    - Don't talk It is disliked to talk while using the bathroom. you should not return greetings, or even say Alhamdulillah aloud when sneezing. Only to prevent a blind man from harm should you speak.
    - do not face or turn your back to ka'bah. (you may do so if there is some barrier between you and the Ka'bah. it is only meant for open areas)
    - find a low soft place to use the bathroom the prophet did this.
    - - do not use a whole in the ground Holes are the residence of the Jinn. would you like it if someone pissed in your house?
    - avoid high-traffic areas self explanatory

To BE CONTINUED... later... in the next post...
