    Feeling pumped for ramazan!

    Postby Rizwan1 » 08 May 2012, 07:06

Is it just me or is everyone feeling pumped for Ramazan, i can't wait for the holy month to start.
    My reasoning:
-My mother makes a special effort in food preparation everynight.

    -Feel close to Allah

    - Get to visit my cousins for Eid

    - In my town there is a small muslim population: every muslim household makes one dish and takes it to the mosque, All the muslims share out the food and we all get to experience foods from different parts of the world.

    - Taraweeh: Your legs hurt after a while but you get used to it, on the plus side you get to listen to the quran (it sounds amazing when an arab recites it)

    - Zakat: giving to charity makes me feel good about myself

    - Eid: Self Explanatory

What does everyone else enjoy about Ramazan?

    Ya Ramadan!, by Noor Syed

In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind

A blessed month is casting its shadow upon us
A night of this month is better than a thousand months
Bear with patience for the sake of Ar-Rahman
It's a continuous training to strengthen our Imaan.

Glory be to Allah who sent Ramadan as a mercy to mankind
Its a purification of our soul, our heart, and our mind
With the most sincere devotion and love we fast
To be cleansed and free from sins of the past

Glorified is He, who choseth this holy month,
To test our sabr and fill our hearts with warmth
Of his Divine Light, His blessings shall glow,
The Seer of the unseen, all He does know

Ya Allah! For thee, let my breath be more pleasant than musk
Ya Allah! For thee, let me be thankful when day turns to dusk
My thoughts and heart are purified, my eyes truly see'
This blessed month, the month of spiritual rhapsody!

Ya Allah! For thee, my life I shall live!
Ya Allah! For thee, my soul I shall give!
In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind,
Praise be to Allah, who sent Ramadan as a gift to mankind
There are people with experience and people with opinions. Listen to one, smile at the other.

You and Kouba pretty much summed it up. For me what I am the happiest about is the fact that I get another chance to make myself a better muslim. I love ramathan. And now that I live back with my parents again, I look forward to eat my moms and sisters cooking again inshAllah this Ramathan.

Off topic slightly, just For Your Info: I was just telling Gerzi (Ahmad) yesterday about the pronounciation of certain words that for some reason the Pakistani and Indian population almost always get wrong. It's not Zabiha, but THabiha. It's not Ramazan, but RamaTHan. It's not Zulfiqaar but THulfiqaar.
    Peace :D

I didn't know some people spelled it Ramazan. Even google autocorrects to Ramadan lol interesting.

Anyways, yea I am pretty psyched. My mom also makes the best food during this time. This year I wanna make a better effort to pray taraweeh at the masjid.

Also want to organize a Secret Santa (for lack of better name) for Eid with MG so hopefully that interests some people!

Edit: apparenly it's called Secret Eidi or Secret Imam... Haha Secret Imam it is!

You people got it good. Im going to be spending Ramadan with my family in solitude. No friends, family or relatives. Eid will be just another ordinary day except I will put on a fake smile because its Eid.

+1 AhmadSA Vimto from my african heritage (seriously -- we drink it because we're from Kenya, not because we're brown).

@SnakeXT maybe this is the perfect opportunity to make friends with some Muslims in your neighbourhood. Nothing says "hi neighbour!" like inviting someone over for iftaar.

Subhanallah I'm surprised (but maybe I shouldn't be?) how much people love special food in Ramadan. That is really somethign distinctive about it across cultures.

As for the desi accent thing .. they tend to turn stuff into a "z" sound, don't take it the wrong way :P (every culture has different Arabic accents with some incorrect pronounciations, even Arabs.)
