What can I pray to safeguard myself/my home?

    Postby SnakeXT » 23 Mar 2012, 11:06

    Salaamu Alaikaum bros/sistas.

I want to know what I can pray for myself and for my home. Im living alone and sometimes I get the feeling Im being watched and Im not exactly alone in my own home. You ever get that feeling? I lose sleep and Im listening to some naats to calm my soul and hopefully fall asleep.

Also Im grateful for doing hifz, the Quran in my heart is my protection but Im losing that precious feeling. I need to strengthen that feeling again insh'Allah.

    Jazak'Allah.

    Wa'alikum as-salaam wa rahmatullah,

The best thing to do is get good companionship. Try to find some good brothers to live with, or relatives, or someone. The best way to strengthen your feeling/iman is to study and reflect on Allah's names and attributes (so many of which are in the Qur'an) and take Islamic classes and stuff if you can, and listen to lectures and stuff if you can (FYI, AudioIslam.com is an amazing site.)

Also, you should regularly pray five times a day, all of them (as many as you can do -- work towards that goal). Also, after every salah, you can recite ayat-ul-kursi (and in general). Also, before sleeping, you should recite the "three quls" (minus surah kafiroon) as a set, three times, and then dry spit into your hands and wipe over your body. That keeps away shayateen and bad dreams and stuff.

We will make du'a for you. May Allah give you strength and steadfastness and protect you from fear.

Don't forget the hadith of rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) who said: if the whole world got together to harm someone, and Allah did not permit it, they would not be able to harm him anything!

Allah is Al-Jabbar and Al-Mutakabbir and Al-Qahhar and all kinds of things; nobody can harm you with His protection.

    Wallahu a'lam.

I forgot to mention -- do the "usual" good stuff: leave a light on even when you're not home at night; buy a security/alarm system; get a "beware of dog" sign (or a real guard dog); etc.

It is highly advisable to not be alone if you can help it. The wolf loves sheep that stray from the pack. Shaytaan is the same. If you cannot help it, Shaytaan will not enter a house in which surat al-baqarah was recieted (at-tirmidhi, hadith hasan).

For everything else dunya related, know that Allah "is with you wherever you are" (57:4)

Make dua', do what you can, and leave the rest to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

Just a note: I think SnakeXT is married, he's not living alone. But like the guys said, remember Allah and he will remember you. Get to know Allah through his names and attributes, that is probably the best advice you can get. Remember no one can help you but Allah. No ta'weeza, no shingles, no charms... nothing, not even the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) can protect you without Allah's desire. That is true tawheed. Have 110% trust in Allah and he will not disappoint.
Subhanallah, alhamdulillah, la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wala hawla wala quwata illa billaah.
سبحان الله الحمدلله لا اله الا الله والله اكبر ولا حول ولا قوة الا بالله
