To be honest good mods are very rare but when they are good they tend to be really good and quite often better than official dlc's. I only prefer a good quality DLC, that offers a real extension to the game not same lame hat or armor. So yeah we are pretty much of the same opinion here, except that if I don't like DLC's I just won't buy them instead of not buying the game.
in regards to them making money: Of course they will need to make more money then us, who in the right mind would want the players to make more money then theirselves when they are running a business. They are doing what Paypal is doing. Paypal transactions is how they make money, each transaction paypal charges a certain percentage.
As for making a decent amount of money.. You're playing a game, I don't expect to make a decent amount of money, only a little bit when I get a drop that I don't want, but others want. It's not meant to replace my job salary, but just to make a little bit of extra cash on the side, whilst playing a game that I enjoy. Your not forced to sell or buy and you can always choose not to sell or buy anyway. You are given an extra feature that Diablo 2 didn't have, which you can 'choose' (keyword) to play or not to play.
As for the money not being transferable.... What do you mean it's not transferable? I thought the point of making money is so that you can make money and then I can withdraw it (at a cost) and put it in my own account?
