    Your favourite and worst MMORPG?

    Postby thulfiqaar » 22 Aug 2011, 07:43

I'm interested in hearing what people's favourite MMORPG are, whether old or new and what their most hated MMORPG is as well.

    I'll start it off:

    Favourite MMORPG:

    EVE Online
    Image

    - Player driven economy
    - Offline/online skill system
    - No level cap
    - All players on 1 server only
    - A very deep crafting system
    - Territorial PvP warfare
    - Sandbox
    - PvP takes skill and experience
    - Best MMORPG Community I have ever seen in any other game
    - Politics
    - Scams
    - Tactics
    - Teamwork is required, if not you might as well stop playing
    - So much more

A game that is Incredibly complex and sophisticated to the point that you would want to rip your hair off. The learning curve so steep that it will really test your patience to the limit. Just look at the below image and you will grasp an idea of what i am talking about.

    Image

After that learning curve though, you will experience an MMORPG unlike any other. I have to admit, I trialed it first and didn't like it because it was too complex. Then another friend of mine told me about it because he started playing and wanted me to try it again, so I did. I played it for about 8 months non stop, hardcore! I was a Corp (guild) leader and ran made sure everybody was having a good time and we had regular meetings to discuss the future of the corp. Merging with alliances and exploring the richest and most dangerous part of Eve '0.0 Sec'. Learning about the ingame politics and creating your own community and socialising with others. Hiring mercenaries to do your dirty work. I could go on for hours.
If I have to summarise why I love it so much I would say, the freedom to do whatever you want. As for the story? hehe It's your own mate. All yours.
yes I did mention I played it for 8 months, which means i am no longer playing it. Why? Well running a Corp is hard as any guild leader has ever had to do. Running one in EVE Online is even harder! Let's just say drama happened and I couldn't be bothered to start over, instead I quit. And if I join the game again now, all I would end up doing is hiring Mercenary corporations to War Deck the people that back stabbed me. Which means I won't be playing the game or enjoying it anymore, instead I stay clear of it lol.

    Worst MMORPG:

    World of Warcraft

    Image

The game itself is just fine but the community in my experience was really bad. I don't like to hide the fact that I am a muslim but the problem is you get flamed when people find out you are a muslim, that's just to be expected these days unfortunately. In WoW, it's just plain stupid and ignorance that is just unbearable. Sometimes makes me feel like wanting to reach out through the monitor and just slap them across the face lol.

Ok so lets forget the muslim bit, lets talk about the game experience when it comes to playing it with the community. EVERYBODY is solo. lol I didn't even get to max level because of the ill mannered people I play with every time. I just got demotivated and stopped playing it.

Oh and yes I did play it over and over again everytime they give you a 7 days for free. And i even got the expansion and tried it which i enjoyed to be honest just not long enough.

    Salam

I've only played 2 MMORPGs, as far as I remembered. They are LOTRO and CrimeCraft. Out of the two, I really loved LOTRO.

In LOTRO, the world is sooooo vast and it somehow draws me into it. I stopped playing it quite early in the game because it's sucking me too much. It's fun and I don't mind paying for it, but I enjoy it very very much that I start to dedicate like 3 hours per day for the game (for me that's just too much time wasted). That's when I decided that I must stop. I don't want to make the game my second life. Not that it's not fun. It is very very enjoyable.

Well. may be it's just me.

Is APB still running, thought it was shutdown?

I don't like MMORPGs in general so I can't list favs and hates. I do play Spiral Knights quite often but I don't consider it a true MMORPG.

Doesn't like any RPG. Dragon Age's the game that i've played for hours but never till ends. So i uninstalled it. How tiring too to take hours playing RPG.

    But not with Spiral Knights.

hehe Dragon Age isn't an MMORPG but it is an RPG. If you enjoy a good story line and tactical combat action then you would like Dragon age. In fact if you think Dragon Age takes too long to finish then you definitely don't want to explore the MMORPG because that never finishes lol.

    Favorite:

    World of Warcraft.

I play on a private server that is a melting pot, with a large amount of Eastern Europeans and Eastern Asia. I like the way the gameplay is balanced... at least in 3.3.5a, no one class is too overpowered which makes battlegrounds and world PVP in contested zones exhilarating. While many of the quests are indeed repetitive, learning some of the heaps of associated lore that go along with each quest chain makes the game feel more immerse, like you are actually helping the Royal Apothecary Society to achieve their goals.

    Worst:

    Champions Online.

Ignoring the nerf to what free to play users can do, the game still feels sluggish, unpolished and the amount of grinding necessary is rather tedious.

too bad about champions online, it looked like it had a lot of potential. DC Universe Online is going to be free to play soon sometime in october that is amusing for a while but i got bored because of lack of people on the servers. here is hoping that it would bring the game back to life and make it better because it was loaded with bugs before.

hehe remember back in the days when I used to play WoW...had a muslim name most ppl where quite nice but were a few though. Was hillarious they would duel me and a paladin at that time could take out all classes except a warlock I think. So was quite funny when I took out ppl 10 levels higher than me:D with potions and the paladin bubble thing of course.
