Everyone has a few games on their phone and everyone knows that some are hugely successfull. But would you ever think that Epics IOS game “Infinity Blade” would be more profitable than Gears of War?
When you look at the time spent on development vs the return on the game, Infinity Blade, CEO Tim Sweeney has said that it is the most profitable game for them ever.

As Free to Play games take a stronger hold on the market, the likes of Crytek have already announced that they will be focusing on the F2P model after Crysis 3.
All these western developers spending 30 million to develop these games for dedicated consoles – all of these companies are going to be invading the Asian markets within the next five years or so and they’ll be free to play, worldwide, global products. … The only way to survive is to go global.
Sweeney and Yerli have both commented on how the performance of tablets are increasing exponentially and that soon enough, the tech will be at the level of current Gen consoles. This makes the mobile market ripe for gaming opportunities.
“We expect DirectX technology to be widely available on these mobile devices in the next few years, We’re also seeing an interesting thing happen in terms of the overall development pattern globally.”
So when you look at the cost of man hours spent on a mobile game and the profits returned, the category is looking more and more profitable by the day.
